Leave Dates allows you to configure approvers for departments or employees.
This article will explain how to configure these approvers.
The 'Approver' Role
All approvers must be given the 'Approver' role by following these steps:
- Go to the Settings > Employees page.
- Click the approver's name to edit their profile.
- Tick the Approver role (as shown below)
- Press the Save Profile button
Now the employee has the approver role, they can be assigned as approvers for departments or employees.
Department approvers
We recommend adding approvers for departments before adding approvers for employees.
- Go to the Settings > Departments page.
- Click the department to edit.
- Use the Approver(s) dropdown to select who should approve leave. You can select multiple approvers.
- Only employees with the approver role will appear in this list as mentioned earlier.
- Press Save.
Employee approvers
Setting up an approver for an employee will override the department approver for that employee.
- Go to the Settings > Employees page.
- Click the employee to edit.
- Use the Approver(s) dropdown to select who should approve leave. You can select multiple approvers.
- Only employees with the approver role will appear in this list as mentioned earlier.
- Press Save Profile
Leaving the Approver(s) field blank in the employee profile will result in the department approver being used. If both the employee and department approver are blank, then company admins will become the approver.
Notifications
Notifications will be sent to approvers for new leave requests by:
- Shown in the Leave Dates website when logged in
- Push notification to the mobile app (if installed)
Additional non-approvers can also be notified of new requests by adding them to the Notify field. More info
