Migrate from your legacy HR system or spreadsheet onto Leave Dates using the Bulk Data Import tools available on the Settings > Data Import page.
1. Employees
Import employee data from Excel into Leave Dates:
- Download the template from the Settings > Data Import page.
- Fill in the first sheet of the template. The second sheet shows values that can be used as lookups for approvers, departments, allowance units, permissions and time zones.
- Save the file.
- Then click the button in the Settings > Data Import page and select the file to upload it.
Notes:
- Any approvers or departments must be set up in Leave Dates before they can be referenced in the import. Once set up, they will appear in the lookup sheet of the downloaded template.
- Employees uploaded using this method will not automatically be invited to join. Go to the Settings > Employees page to invite them.

2. Leave
The process for uploading Leave is similar to the process of uploading employees. Download the template, fill it in using the lookups provided and then save and upload it.
Notes:
- Only use one row per date. ie. a 5-day leave (eg. Monday to Friday) should take up 5 rows.
- Full Name and Leave Type should be as provided in the lookup sheet.
- Date should be given in Excel date format.
- From and To are optional fields to indicate the start and end time of the leave. If you do not fill these in the system will use the working schedule of that person.
- Is Private is optional and defaults to No if not provided.
- Reason is optional and will appear as comments in the leave request.

3. Allowances
The allowances import allows you to bulk update all allowances in one upload.
- Download the template from the Settings > Data Import page.
- Select the calendar to manage (ie. allowances for which leave year)
- The template contains all of the allowances currently configured in Leave Dates.
- Edit / amend these allowances as required.
- Save the file.
- Click the Upload button in the Settings > Data Import page and select the file.
