Understanding your remaining allowance

The My Year page shows your current allowance. It looks like the screenshot below.

So, what do they all mean?

Total

This is the total amount of leave that can be taken during the year.

Total is calculated as: Allowance + Carry over + Time off in lieu

Allowance

This is the amount of leave you are allowed to take during the year and is set by your company.

Carry over

Companies that allow staff to carry over unused leave from one year to the next will display the number of days or hours carried over. This line will not be shown if carry over is zero or not offered.

Time off in lieu

Time off in lieu (or TOIL) is overtime resulting in extra time-off, rather than overtime payments. If you do not have time off in lieu enabled for your company, then you will not see this line in your summary.

Booked / Taken

This show you how many days (or hours) of the allowance have been booked (in the future) or already taken (in the past).

To calculate this figure, we add up the leave requests in approved or pending approval status for the year.

Remaining

This tells you how many more days (or hours) you have available to book before exceeding your allowance. It is not possible to book more leave than you are allowed.

To be taken by

if a portion of the carry-over is due to expire during the year, it will be displayed here.
